Outreach

Episcopal Relief and Development Fund
The purpose of this fund is to respond to human suffering at home and around the world. We provide emergency assistance after disasters, rebuild communities, and help children and families climb out of poverty. Wherever you hear of others in need the ERD is also present.
United Thank Offering (UTO)
We offer our prayers of thanks to God and then we give tangible thanks for those blessings in the form of coins or bills. UTO then funds grants throughout the world.
Thanksgiving Bread
This is an annual project sponsored by the Young Adult Bible Study Group whereby the group gathers on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to bake loaves of bread which are donated to the Greensboro Urban Ministry to serve the homeless on Thanksgiving Day. The group starts at 8:00 AM and stays until completion; each hour they pause to offer a prayers of thanksgiving and intercession.
Adonia Rigsby Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is given to all graduating seniors in memory and in honor of this deceased member.
Breakfast with Santa
This is a fund raising project for the Adonia Rigsby Scholarship Fund.
Christmas and Thanksgiving Boxes
Every Christmas and Thanksgiving members of the congregation are asked to donate items for baskets of food to be given to underprivileged families.
Crop Walk
Each October, Greensboro Urban Ministry and Church World Services sponsor Crop Walk to raise money to fight hunger locally and globally. One fourth of the proceeds go to Potter’s House Community Kitchen, the remainder goes to Third World countries. Volunteers can contribute to the effort either by walking themselves, or sponsoring other walkers.
Graduate Breakfast
A time set aside after high school graduation to celebrate with the graduates. In addition to breakfast, a former graduate shares words of inspiration, advice, adventure and most of all encourages them to set attainable goals as they begin their college adventures. Graduates are presented with unique gifts from their advisors. A special bible is also presented to each graduate by the ECW president.
Greensboro Urban Ministry Food Bank’s Grocery Store Food Drives
The Food Bank collects non-perishable items such as canned vegetables and meats, cereals, and dried milk to distribute through Emergency Assistance. Redeemer volunteers participate in food drives sponsored by Leadership Greensboro each Spring and Fall, soliciting food items at a local grocery store for use by the Food Bank.
ProjectCARE (Coaching Accelerates Rich Excellence)
A tutoring enrichment academy program for building specialized test-taking skills and abilities in seven testing areas including SAT, PSAT, and ACT.
Sandwich Boxes
On the first Sunday of each month, 100 sandwiches are made for the homeless shelter. With the help of the EYC, these sandwiches are boxed along with cookies and delivered to Greensboro Urban Ministry for distribution.
