A LETTER TO OUR VISITORS

GREETINGS:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer’s website. The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer invites you to its worship services every Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. In addition to celebrating Holy Eucharist the Redeemer strives to maintain its faith with Monday morning and Wednesday evening prayers, and Friday evening Bible study programs.

The church is the only African-American Episcopal Parish in Greensboro, North Carolina and is located at 901 East Friendly Avenue in close proximity to Bennett College and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Because of our presence in the community, we have been blessed to have a congregation of about 130 families. Our congregation includes infants, centenarians, couples of all ages, singles, retirees, people from various countries, and in general is a very diverse group. This diversity allows us to offer activities designed to include everyone. For example, in addition to our programs of worship, the Redeemer sponsors volunteer opportunities for the youth, tutorial and reading programs, and has very active men, women, and young adult groups.

Since its inception in 1906, The Redeemer has dedicated itself to serving the greater Greensboro community. In 2006 it celebrated its 100 years in the Diocese of North Carolina and the City of Greensboro. Throughout that celebration the congregation affirmed its faith and renewed its commitment to care for each other.

The Redeemer actively participates in more than fifteen (15) outreach ministries throughout the year, including the Episcopal World Relief Fund, The United Thank Offering, Greensboro Urban Ministry which sponsors the Crop Walk and the Food Basket. Beginning February 5, 2008 the Redeemer will join other parishes in Greensboro to serve breakfast to the hungry every Tuesday morning. Additionally, the Redeemer supports and encourages its congregation to maintain membership in the Union of Black Episcopalians.

Again, all have a place at The Redeemer. It is my prayer that as you come to the Redeemer you will find a presence that will inspire, refresh, and energize you to join us as a Church that is committed to uplifting the kingdom of God, spreading the gospel, increasing our spirituality, and assisting in the creation of a more peaceful and harmonious church and world.

Please browse the website to learn about upcoming activities and outreach ministries. Furthermore, feel free to contact us with any questions regarding the Redeemer’s mission and outreach.

WELCOME!
